In 2017, Michelle Poonawalla was approached by The Elephant Parade India project by the Elephant Family charity, to join India's leading artists and designers to create a unique, life-sized elephant which would travel across India and the UK.
The objective behind this eccentric, cross-continental public exhibition was a special one - to raise awareness and funds to create safe corridors for the vulnerable Asian Elephant. The artist came together alongside 101 of India’s creative minds to create a bespoke elephant - Monsoon Magic, which was unveiled at the British High Commission residence in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. The bespoke elephant then travelled to Mumbai and London, where it went under the hammer for the prestigious Concours D'Elephant auction. The event was attended by British royalty, patrons of the charity and the biggest names in art and culture.
